Joseph Beuys gave suggestions to the reorganisation of the cultural and social life as well as the economy. With the foundation of the FIU as> Free International University <, Beuys with comrades had the idea to create the culture of the next century.

Joseph Beuys gab Anregungen zur Neugestaltung des kulturellen und sozialen Lebens sowie der Wirtschaft. Mit der Gründung der FIU als > Freie Internationale Universität < (FIU) will Beuys mit Mitstreitern die Kultur des nächsten Jahrhunderts schaffen durch vielfältige Aktiväten : Forschen, Diskutieren, Gestalten. Die FIU soll als freie Internationale Hochschule für Kreativität und interdisziplinäre Forschung auf der Grundlage des von Beuys entwickelten "Erweiterten Kunstbegriffs" kreatives Forschen und Mitgestalten an der Gesamtkultur als Sozialen Plastik ermöglichen. Die Unabhängigkeit der Schulen und Hochschulen von der Bevormundung durch die politischen Parteien und den Staat war eine grundlegende Voraussetzung.
Beuys Ziel ist die grundlegende Erneuerung und Erweiterung des Bildungswesens als Entstaatlichung des Bildungswesens. Für seinen "Erweiterten Kunstbegriff" war die Erneuerung des gesamten Bildungswesens notwendig , sowohl in den Methoden und Inhalte des Unterrichts als auch in der Organisation von Forschung und Lehre.
Joseph Beuys arbeitete bereits im Zuge der Entwicklung seiner Lehrtätigkeit seit den frühen 70er an dem Gedanken zur Gestaltung und Gründung einer freien Hochschule für Kreativität und interdisziplinäre Forschung.
Die Idee der >Free International University (FIU)< und auch der >Organisation für direkte Demokratie durch Volksabstimmung< lebt heute u.a. im >FIU-Verlag< vom Autor und Verleger Rainer Rappmann, der von Beuys Schülern initiierten >F.I.U. Amsterdam<, dem >Omnibus für direkte Demokratie< und in dem Verein >Mehr Demokratie e.V.< weiter.
